Default Compatibility with New devexpress Servermode feature

Hello
Devexpress has released a new feature with its grid subscription Server
Mode. Actually it is only compatible with big Database SQL. They intend to
extend it to some other Databases in next releases. I just want to know if
you have any information about future compatibility with NexusDB.
Thanks
Ben

DexExpress is not saying what plans there are for more databases. It is
possible that we can implement it ourselves; please log a wishlist
issue in our tracker.

I am not going to do that.
It is your way of putting your customer on hold, when you don't want to give
a definite answer or schedule. Your tracker is full with wishes since a long
time.
You will tell me that your resources are limited. I can admit it, since a
masterpiece of your team like Hannes has left since more than 10 months, and
you have not communicated with us, to explain how you are going to replace
him, what is the roadmap. We are concerned as our product depend heavily on
your Database.
Sure it is your business, but we are concerned and need to know sooner than
latter what is your next step.
Can't you see, that you are killing your product, that we used to love all.
For me your first error was to take in charge portal product, with the same
team as nexusdb.
Hope you react. English is not my first language, I cannot say, all I want,
but I hope you understand that I am really frustrated by you behaviour and
your lack of communication.
Regards
Ben

Ouch!

It is an interesting feature, but, if you read between the lines, you
can accomplish the same thing with some creative coding.

My two cents worth.

How is Server Mode different from the way the Delphi grid works?

The Developer Express Grid has built in sorting, grouping, filtering
and other features that usually require the whole result set to be
loaded. Very powerful until the size of the result set means
it takes a while to load.

Sounds like the new feature uses the database to speed things up
by querying what it needs for what is displayed instead of loading
all the data and then sorting/filtering/grouping etc.

Nobody is twisting your arm, it is up to you.

It is a bit optimistic to expect us to plonk out an exact date for when
we'll have support ready for this feature that was only released days
ago from DevEx. My response was in no way intended to put you off,
merely to measure the interest, and ensure the request is not lost.

You are correct in assuming that we are not able to fulfil everybody's
wishes all at once. As much as we would like to, we can't. We have to
put priorities on our todo list, and the todo list comes straight out
of the issue tracker, and customer feedback on these newsgroups.

I can tell you that if nobody bothers to log a wishlist issue, you will
never ever see the feature.

I actually spent a bit of time the last couple days (weekend) looking
at the devex sources, to have an idea how the feature is implemented
and the complexity involved. Since you don't want to log the issue,
that time is now apparently wasted. Next time, please indicate up front
that you're not interested enough to log an issue, ensuring that our
time go where it is most needed.

....now... having said all that, I'm fairly sure that you'd actually
want to see the feature. I'm just in a roundabout way saying that a
knee-jerk response to a request to log your wish, isn't productive for
anybody. Just log the issue, and we'll go from there.
