First of all, I am using Windows Vista 64 + Norton Internet Security
2009. I have uninstalled Norton and the results described below were unchanged (so it isn't Norton). I have tested the S__T out of it and for whatever reason, I can't get any of my applications to retrieve data from a NxServer.exe running on the same machine. The applications connect, but no data is ever successfully transferred. I can get the applications (on the machine in question) to connect and retrieve data from another PC running NxServer.exe on my internal network. If I run the same applications from another machine and try to connect to the Nexus Server on the problem machine, they can connect but NO data is successfully returned. Nexus DB Enterprise Manager can retrieve data from the NxServer on the problem machine with NO problems. This is driving me up the wall .. I have never had this problem on any of my other development machines running Vista 64. What am I missing? Any ideas / help would be appreciated! Best Regards, Shane |

Hi Shane,
This only happens when server and client are in the same computer? If that's the case, what happens if you try the client on another computer and the server there? Does it happens with any protocol? Are you using transport encryption? This happens with any alias/database? The first message said this also happened with EM, but the last one say EM works, is that correct? Any app has this problems? Can you try a new app with just the minimum nexus components accessing the same database and see what happens? Does the nxServerException.log says anything? Sorry of just throwing questions, probably you have already asked yourself them, but that's the only thing I can think of right now. HTH, Rodrigo |

I quit trying to use the encrypted transports because of the SERIOUS BUG IN NexusDB that doesn't handle trigger exceptions when the the encrypted protocol is used. > > The first message said this also happened with EM, but the last one say > EM works, is that correct? After a few reboots, the problem is with my applications and NexusDB server running on my new Thinkpad W700. Actually, any application trying to connect to the Nexus Server running on the new machine (except Enterprise Manager). > > Any app has this problems? I was going to try that until: 1) I realized the compiled apps on the machine in question could connect to a NexusDB server running on another workstation. 2) I started having a few Spaten Optimators. > > Does the nxServerException.log says anything? I, too, am grasping at straws as I have NEVER has these type issues with NexusDB. Best Regards, Shane P.S. The Thinkpad W700 with 8G of memory and a QX9300 processor is the BEST LAPTOP I have ever owned!! |

Just looked up what that was..Yes thanks!! <g> I think Grolsh is the only Bavarian beer I have local access to. Wasn't it scientifically proven that alcohol killed the slowest/damaged brain cells before other brain cells? If that's true then you're doing some 'routine optimization' ;-) >> >> Does the nxServerException.log says anything? > > Nothing. Just to run through [and eliminate] some basics... * Are you running nxServer (and EM) in 'Administrator' mode? You should be able to set the nxServer file properties to always run in Administrator mode either directly or through a shortcut. * Is the database in a protected location like a folder in Program Files? * I doubt this would be an issue but is everything running on the same network? I.e. IP range, subnet, and workgroup/domain name. I recall when I was deciding between the 32 and 64 bit versions of WinXP, in order to get some apps working under Windows XP 64bit, you needed a specific DLL which the 64bit version did not install. Perhaps its a bit of history repeating? Since you mentioned that you're running Vista64 on other machines which work properly this is probably unlikely. Best of luck! Regards, William |

Grolsh is from the netherlands and i don't really know what inside, but i suppose that it differs a lot from german beer. Greetings from germany (cologne, not bavaria) Arnd |

Hi Arndt,
> Grolsh is from the netherlands and i don't really know what inside, but > i suppose that it differs a lot from german beer. Grolsch is brewed following the "Deutsches Reinheitsgebot von 1516". The German Beer Purity Law that is (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reinheitsgebot). It is the only dutch beer that is "clean". I really like very dark beer and Spaten Optimator is one of my favorites.
Since InBev purchased (or at least started the process) of Budweiser, Walmart started carrying more InBev products (could just be a coincidence, but...) and they now sale Optimator (so real easy to find)! Best regards, Shane |

I had it once. Not too sure if I'll have it again. I like Shofferhoffer Heifferweizen (spelling?) which I'm pretty sure is German...it's an expensive habit though. I need to drive 2 hours to Sydney if I want any and then it's at least another 2 hours before I can drink it ^_^! -- Regards, William |
