Default Message: NexusDB: INTERNAL: Error when reading from file [z:\ord\ITNETU.nx1, error 1006, The volume for a file has been externally altered

The error is raised from the nexusdb server (3.04.1)

Could be thas it is caused by an antivirus program (Clam antivirus is
installed)?

z: is an external USB hard disk

To solve the problem is necessary to stop and restart the server

NexusDB database files should ALWAYS be excluded from AV scans.

Hannes,

I've never done that. Is there an extent list available? Does it
include those ANNOYING left-over SQL files from EM?

I usually simply exclude the DB folder.

Not sure what you mean

Sounds like a good idea. Thanks!

$SQL$VIEWS.nx1
$SQL$TRIGGERS.nx1
$SQL$PROCEDURES.nx1
$SQL$FUNCTIONS.nx1

Whenever I use EM that garbage is always left in the directory where I
was working.

Well, these are the system tables holding views, triggers, stored procs and
functions. I would *strongly* recommend to leave them alone

I have always blown them away after I finish using EM. <g> They always
re-appear the next time I do something with EM. <g>

Well, if you ever create a view, trigger or stored procedure, then deleting
them means you are deleting whatever you just created...

Thorsten,

| Well, if you ever create a view, trigger or stored procedure, then
| deleting them means you are deleting whatever you just created...

Ah. Understood.

I guess I'm relatively safe since I have NOT done any SQL at all. <g>
However, I guess I'll stop referring to them as "left-over garbage" now
that I have an understanding of what they're for. <g>

Thanks for the explanation!

Aside: I've been lurking your exchange in the Embarcadero NG's about
Packages, Uses, registration, etc., ... Cool! ;-)
