Nexus Portal Host & Gateway are working in the newest versions as service in Win7. If you have any issues with it then please let us know the details so we can fix it. |

I'll look what is the issue there. It might a security issue with both of them. |

Tony, I've scheduled time from Monday onwards to go over the Win7 issues that you reported and check them out. I'll make sure that they get addressed asap. Sorry that I wasn't able to answer earlier. -- Hannes Danzl / NexusDB Issue Tracker - http://www.nexusdb.com/mantis/view_all_bug_page.php Newsgroup Web Gateway - http://www.nexusdb.com/forums/ Newsgroup Search - http://www.nexusdb.com/forums/search.php |

File Transfer as well as File Explorer work normally as a Windows Service, since they do not require Forms on the Host side. There is nothing special you have to do for this. Chat obviously would not work if the Host is running as a pure Service without desktop interaction and no Forms (at least, the user will not see anything), but since a Host Service on Vista and Windows 7 are nothing more than Host process launchers used to start Host processes by impersonating the logged in user, nothing speaks against using Forms on the Host when it is running this way. In other words, you could have a normal windowed Host version even when you have the Host "launcher" installed as a Service, in which case you would also have the Chat functionality from the Service version of the Host. -- Danijel Tkalcec RealThinClient components http://www.realthinclient.com |

Sending CTRL-ALT-DEL on Vista+ turns out to be a real problem. MS changed this sequence to be a so called Secure Attention Sequence (SAS). The SAS in turn is now protected by several access policies. There are ways around it and we're in talks with someone who can potentially provide us with a solution to the issue. In the meantime we will go the way that various VNC versions are going. If you run on a system lower than Vista, the old method (which is working) will be applied. If you're runnning on vista or higher: If you're running the host as application sending CTRL-ATL-DEL will open the task manager. If you running as service we will try to call the UVNC CAD.EXE (http://sc.uvnc.com/cad.exe). There are some caveats on this which we will detail on release of the next build. Sorry, for the restriction, but MS find this requirements needed for his so called secure windows version. You can though use the virtual on screen keyboard (OSK) to trigger a CTRL-ALT-DEL when on the login screen. Just make sure to swtich it back off before you actually log in, otherwise the OSK gets added to the startup programs for the user. -- Hannes Danzl / NexusDB Issue Tracker - http://www.nexusdb.com/mantis/view_all_bug_page.php Newsgroup Web Gateway - http://www.nexusdb.com/forums/ Newsgroup Search - http://www.nexusdb.com/forums/search.php |
