Default [ANN] TjfnNXConnector v.1.0

Hi,

following the discussion with Harold Legg, I've uploaded the latest
version of TjfnNXConnector to binaries.

What is it?
-----------

TjfnNXConnector is a mere wrapper around the NexusDB "usual suspects"
that make a full connection chain to the DB: transports, server engine,
session and database.

The TjfnNXConnector class is a way to avoid the VCL stuff you usually
put in a data module. The class can be useful in console apps as well.

My NXCG tool uses that class, btw.

What's new?
-----------

The class is now derived from TObject instead of TComponent.

As talking with Harold pointed out a problem in that area, I've put
some effort in better documenting the code and have provided a
functional demo. The demo will create a table in a directory, based
upon some NXCG generated code (see demo source).

Note: I found a bug in the NXCG1 code for the CreateAlias() routine.
There should have been a try..finally block around the DeleteAlias()
call. I have manually added it to the demo code but NXCG1 will be
updated accordingly in a few moments.

Please let me know about your comments, suggestions and bug reports,
either here or directly (email address is in the code).

HTH,

Joe,

sorry to not have made this clear:

-- TjfnNXConnector supports both NexusDB versions

-- NXCG v.1.xx are for NexusDB v.1
(NXCG for NexusDB v.2 will be named accordingly [NXCG2, may be])

BTW NXCG2 is near beta stage (currently finishing the RI thingy)

JFN - Much thanks to you. This was absolutely perfect, and I was able to
very quickly modify it to do what I was looking for.

The reason I was trying to do a console app like this, is I am finally
moving something I wrote in 1994 in DOS Turbo Pascal with B-Tree Filer to
the modern age. The first program took a flat file and created and populated
a B-Tree file. That is the program I am currently working on. There are
several more programs to go, but thanks to you, I have finally gotten off to
a good start.

Thank you once again for your help.

Dear JFN
I have been using FF for many years and now using Nexus, but still I have
only looked at your excellent program. Soon I will start using it when more
applications are moved to nexus. As a developer and having a small company I
am following this newsgroup and puts in my few cents from time to time. What
impresses me is, that you are posting everywhere and helping with your
program as natural as you were family to all of us. I know this is highly
appreciated from everyone, but I still think I would just express my
"respect" and say "thanks a lot" for what you and many others are doing
beside your nomal job.
Greetings
