Default OT: See traffic per NIC IP Address?

Is there a way to see packet stats per IP address?

I'm trying to diagnose firewall connection problems which appear to be
IP address specific on the Nexus server.

TIA,

John

Windows 7 / 2008R2 and latter show traffic stats by IP address
in the performance monitor.

As well TCPView shows network listeners and connections.

Brian,

DUH! Thanks. I completely forgot about this and I've used it before for
application-specific tracking- just never the NXServer.exe.

Although, it would be nice to see packet counts within the NXServer GUI-
unless it adds significant overhead. This would certainly help with
older server OS's, (Win2003) where the performance monitor is not as
sophisticated. Also, it would be great if the GUI
had an option for showing the client IP addresses attached per interface.

Thanks again.

use a sniffer. (eg http://www.wireshark.org/) is gives you all the data
that you want.

Ad Franse,

Thanks!!!
I did use "Netstat" on the Windows 2003 server to at least tell me the
machine name and the port.

The statistics interface does show the number of messages etc per
transport, although it is not split up per IP address. Feel free to log
a feature request in our tracker.

My client app uses the GetServerStatsComponentCaptions() method of the nxRemoteServerInfoPlugin to display traffic stats, and this works very nicely.

But I would like to be able to split the "TCP/IPv4 Transport" stats into local (127.0.0.1 mainly from nightly backup and restructure), LAN (192.*.*.*) and WAN, to be able to gauge the WAN/Internet bandwidth being used.

Can you point me to the place in the server's source code where I should start looking to implement this and any tips ?

Very best regards,

Olivier

Without major changes to the internals of the transport, the only way to achive
that is to have 3 different transports and have these different clients connect
to their "own" transport each.
