Default UNION ALL w/JOIN - Types not compatible.

I have a query:

SELECT dataimport.lastname , dataimport.postcode , dataimport.telephone ,
dataimportheader.provider , dataimportheader.dataname
FROM dataimport
JOIN dataimportheader on (dataimport.headerid = dataimportheader.id) WHERE
(dataimport.postcode = 'x' AND dataimport.lastname = 'x') OR
(dataimport.postcode = 'x' AND dataimport.telephone = 'x') OR
(dataimport.lastname = 'x' AND dataimport.telephone = 'x')

UNION ALL

SELECT lastname , postcode , telephone , 'From Client #' , 'XXX'
FROM client WHERE
(client.postcode = 'x' AND client.lastname = 'x') OR
(client.postcode = 'x' AND client.telephone = 'x') OR
(client.lastname = 'x' AND client.telephone = 'x')

I have tried CAST etc and gotten nowhere, the error I receive is:
Union/except/interset error: Types INTEGER and CHARACTER are not compatible
[$3CA1/15521]

Am I missing something stupid, as
lastname/postcode/telephone/provider/dataname are all nullstring!?

Can you please post tables to go with the query to the public.binaries
group?

It's ok. I'm missing something stupid. I recently changed provider from
fixed string to id-based lookup and forgot... I've had so much go wrong
today that my head is somewhere else (I'll post up in the discussion group)
